The chairman of the Royal Commission, which is taking evidence on Hip. question of higher education, stated that while the expenditure on education in the Australian States ranged from 7s Sd to 12s lOd per head, New Zealand Kpent 18s per head. The Daily Telegraph, commenting on these remarks, says that it is highly creditahle to New Zealand to devote so much more money to education in all its branches than any of the Australian States.
