THE "BEAUTY" BUSINESS
THE SECRETS DIVULGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The secrets of the "beauty" business were divulged to a Btill greater extent at the Magistrate's Court this morning, when the hearing of the case Eva Mabei Emerson v. Hemsley Burnett, Ltd., was continued. Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M., was on the Bench. Plaintiff claimed £25 premium paid to defendant to learn the business and £25 damages. She alleges tJhat she was not properly taught as the agreement provided. The case was adjourned from last Monday, when it was ascertained that Mrs. Emma Barrett was the principal party in the Hehnsley Burnett, Ltd. Evidence was given by defendant Barrett and others, and the case closed. His Worship said that up to a certain point he was entirely against defendant, who had clearly not fulfilled her part of the contract, but the contradictory evidence of that day he wanted to consider more clearly. He would reserve his judgment As a mere man he had to decide whether these switches and other "what you call 'em's" were made by plaintiff or not. It seemed to him an extraordinary thing when people, especially women, came into court and said what they had. It was very unpleasant. Someone was lying, and it was for him to say whom. Judgment would be reserved.
