EUGENIC EDUCATION
HON FOWLDS DEPUTATIONISED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A joint deputation from the Eugenics Education Society and the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board waited on the Hon. G. Fowlds to-day, and urged him to proceed with the erection of a school at Otekaike for defective girls. Professor Benham congratulated the Government on passing several important Acts having a bearing on the objects' aimed at by the Eugenics Society, and spoke at length in support of the- object of the deputation. Mr. Fowlds expressed his hearty sympathy with the objects of the Society. Before he left for South Africa he arranged for a vote on the estimates for such a school, and hoped before long the building would be proceeded with. The collection of statistics relative to the family history of inmates of special schools must be done bv the officials o[ the various institutions concerned, but he would be glad to co-operate in the collection of statistics. In reiard to medical inspection of school children, lie hoped before long that something would be done that would be effective and not eostlv.
