SEAMEN'S UNION

CONSOLIDATION PROCESS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A ballot of members of New Zealand branches of the Australasian Federated Seamen's Union has been taken on the question of adopting the Australian rules of the Seamen's Federation. The ballot resulted in an almost unanimously vote in favor of adoption, as only 26 votes in the whole of New Zealand were recorded against the proposal. Following on this ballot there is to be an informal conference of secretaries of the Auckland, Wellington and Duncdin branches on Monday to discuss the next move to be made, and some matters of importance to members. The new title of the body will be the "Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia."
