CRICKET
THE HAWKE CUP. WON BY SOUTHLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The cricket match between Southland and Rangitikei for possession of the Hawke Cup concluded to-day, and re-j suited in a win fof Southland. Rangitikei, who only scored 74 in the first inmings to their opponents' 345, played a fine uphill game, and the second inn-| ings closed with a total of 351, to which G. Marshall contributed 166 not out, G. F. Hill 53, and B. Signall 38. Southland in the second innings scored the runs necessary to win with the loss of two wickets, the not outs, L. Pool and D. C. Hamilton, scoring respectively 40 and !9, the total for the two wickets being 84.
