DISTRICT NEWS
KAIMIRO. (From Our Own Correspondent). In spite of all the dry weather we have been having lately, the country is looking very well indeed, and all classes of stock are in capital condition. Farmers state that the cows are holding out fairly well, a fact which speaks well for the district, and which is brought plainly before us when we read in your columns the many complaints of shortage in other districts. At the school last year there were 42 on the roll, whereas this vear there are 70. An athletic club has been formed, and the first sports will be held on April 13. More cultivation is being done each year, and some good-sized paddocks of turnips are looking very well indeed, and a good many acres of oats for green feed are being planted. Some are up and looking well already. Farmers are finding out that it pays to feed. The many friends of Mr. Muudt, sen., will be pleased to learn that he is much better, and able to be about again. A concert and dance will be given in the hall on Friday ovening, March 24, as a farewell to Mr. W. U. Shoeniark, who is leaving on a visit to his parents and relatives in Somersetshire, England, after a residence of 24 years in the district. The distribution of the school children's prizes takes place at the same time. A good programme will be provided, the school children taking part.
