GISBORNE SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Tuesday. At the Supreme Court, Albert Sweeney was convicted of theft, but sentence was deferred. Gisborne, Last Night. At the Supreme Court in the afternoon a verdict of guilty was returned ill the case of Pua Babbington and Ngaroaroa Nuku Nuku, charged with cattle stealing. David Wright, charged with assault on an old man named Edward Ho'gan, was also found guilty. A list of 25 previous convictions was handed in, and the accused was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labor, and an additional three years' reformative treatment. The case of Jiuiies Beliash, an Assyrian hawker, charged with rape, is proceeding. WANGANUI SESSIONS. Wanganui, Last Night. The Supreme Court opened to-day before Mr. Justice Edwards. Thomas Thompson, found guilty of theft, wai> sentenced to six months' imprisonment, with two years' reformative treatment. Two youth, Andrews and Doreen, were found' guilty of forgery and uttering and false pretences. Doreen was sentenced to one year's imprisonment and two years' reformative treatment. Andrews will be sentenced on Friday. Doreen is an ex-inmate of the Burnham Industrial School.
