METHODIST CONFERENCE
ELECTION OF A PRESIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Methodist Conference was officially opened to-night, when the retiring president, Rev. C. IT. Laws, delivered a lengthy and interesting address. On a ballot being taken for the position of president, the Rev. fi. W, J. Spence (Palmerston North) secured CA votes, Rev. W. Ready (Auckland) 34. The Rev. Spence did not receive on absolute majority, and on the two names being submitted to a second ballot, the Rev. Spence secured 90, and (he Rev. Ready 35.
