THE CORONATION
OUR VOLUNTARY CONTINGENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Niglit. There are so many applications from members of the Dominion defence forces to form a voluntary coronation contingent, each paying his own expenses, that the Government has decided to allow a contingent to be sent under the following conditions:—(l) Each member to find his own passage by any route to and from England; (2) to supply his own uniform; (3) to report 'to the High Commissioner in London during the first week in June at the latest, earlier if possible; (4) no pay will be granted; (5) to be under military law while acting a 9 a contingent; (6) applications must be made through officers commanding districts, who will report on same and forward to headquarters; a letter of recommendation to the High Commissioner will then be forwarded, and a copy will also be sent to applicant; (7) twenty pounds (£2O) will be granted as an allowance for uniform and equipment, payable in London by the High Commissioner; no other charge against the Government to be incurred. This allowance is, however, limited to sixty members. Only fifteen can therefore be recommended from this (Christchurch) district.
