MR MASSEY APPEALS

VERDICT AGAINST THE WEIGHT OF EVIDENCE.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday.

Notice of appeal has been lodged on behalf of Mr. Massey against the judgment given for the New Zealand Times yesterday in the libel ease. The grounds are that the jury's verdict was so defective that judgment could not be given upon it, that the judge mi* directed the jury in certain matters, that the verdict was against the weight of evidence, that the jury's finding was not a verdict for defendant company, and that the judge admitted certain improper evidence to which plaintiff objected.
