Palmerston N., Last Night. The B flat baritone solo was taken this morning, nine out of 21 entrant# facing the judge. The solo was "Buddier than the Cherry," and Baxter (Waihi Federal) 70 points, P. Norris (Gisborne City) 70, and 1 Lawrence (Wellington Garrison) 67, occupied the first three places, while, Munns (Ashburton), S. Munns (Ashburton), P. Johnston (Wellington Garrison), 62; M. Taylor (Waitara), 62; T. Christensen (Ashburton), 58; A. Signal (Wanganui), 52; and Rolvey (Onehungn) 50, also played. At the showground this afternoon the Mayor, Mr. Nash, welcomed the bandsmen heartily on behalf of the citizens. Mr. David Buick, MJP., also welcomed them and Mr. Maurice Cohen, ex-presi-dent and for fourteen years president of the North Island Band Association, spoke on behalf of Mr. Louis Cohen, the present president, who didn't arrive till later. The afternon concluded by the massed bands playing with flue effect, under the conductorship of Mr. Louis Cohen.

The B grade test pieces started at 0.30 and lasted till 9.30, when the Wellington Garrison begun the A grade test. Appropriation by the Wanganui Garrison is so drawn that it will probably not play till after midnight. There is no result yet at 11.42 p.m. WANGANUI SECOND. Palmerston North, Last Night.
