THE MASTERTON SHOW
OPENING THE NEW GROUNDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. There was a large attendance at the opening day of the Masterton A. and P. Association's show on the new Solway grounds to-day. Visitors were present from all parts of the Dominion, and the general arrangements of the grounds, which have cost over £II,OOO, were favorably commented upon. Champion awards made to-day were as follows: Lincoln sheep, W. Rayner; Komney ram, A. and J. Gray; English Leicesters, C.M. Threlkeld; Border Leicesters, G. Sievers; Southdowns, Nelson Bros.; Shorthorn bull, W. C. Buchanan; cow, W. T. Williams; Herefords, G. P. Moore; thoroughbred stallion, G. McCullough'a Conqueror; draught stallion, J. W. Harding's Baron Graceful. There is a splendid exhibtion of fnt cattle and fat sheep. His Excellency tli« Governor will p llv nt a memorial tree to-morrow.
