FIRST DAY HESULTS. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Palmerston X., Last Night. The band contest opened this srening. Twenty-two bands are in. town. The E flat Cornet solo was won by F. 0. Wilkinson (Gisborne City), with 79 points; W. Francis (Wellington Garrison) was second with 75; R. Watson (Petone Municipal) third with 73, L. Neighbours (Westport Garrison) 06, J. Trussell (Wanganui Garrison) 64, S. Coombes (Marton Royal) (13; W. Nicholls (Taranaki Garrison) »2, A. Kibby (Waitara Municipal) 4S), J. Thomas (Waihi Federal) 48. B Flat Baritone.—G. Jensen (Wanganui Garrison) 80, 1; C. Breen (Wellington Garrison) 78;. J. Cosgrove (Gisborne City) 04; 11. Christensen (Ashburton Temperance) (SO; R. Boyd (Waiiganui Garrison) 59. Thu« official reception will be held tomorrow. The morning will be devoted to solos, and the afternoon and evening to the test selections. The weather is beautiful to-night for the contests.
