Mr. T. E. Taylor's address will breakquite fresh ground. The new Licensing Act contains something we have not had before, and Mr. Taylor lias an inside knowledge of its meaning and likely working. It will be worth while spending an hour or two on Friday to hear the novelties explained.
The continued hot weather anil horrible dust storms have played havoc with people's dresses, but prices of everything of a summer nature (have been so cut down that those wishing to replenish ean do so at about half-price at Ambury's during the next few days. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society will be held this evening at St. Mary's Hall. The great annual sale at the Red Post Furnishing Company's premises is now proceeding. The price-cutting blade has heen busy, and bargains are very plentiful. Elsewhere a replace advertisement gives some attractive prices. The travelling outfits supplied by the local branch of the New Zealand Clothing Factory are guaranteed to please all. Some prices of these goods are advertised elsewhere. The New Plymouth Orchestral Union notify by advertisement in our columns the resumption of their weekly practices, and we recommend any musicians of the town who are able to join the society to da so. The union, as a body, is always prepared to assist gratis at any function organised for the public benefit.
