OUTBREAK AT ELXIIAM. 13y Cable—Association— Copyright. Eltiiaui, Monday. At two o'clock yesterday mofning a fire occurred in a building in Bridgtt street owned by J. Routlcy, Wellington, aUd occupied by Mrs. Gossou, Golden Grid Dining Rooms, and j>\ Sanko, sta- • tioner. Sanko's stock was completely destroyed and the dining rooms gutted. The building was so damaged that it will have to be rebuilt. The shop next door, owneu by A. W. Wood, of New Plymouth, and occupied by E. Parrott, mercer, had a very narrow escape, and the stock had to be removed. Insurances: Routley's building, £3OO in th» State Office; Wood's building, £325 in the Victoria Office; Parrott's stock, £4OO in the Standard; Sanko's stock, £2OO in the New Zealand; Godson, £BO on furniture and £2O on stock in the Guardian. Connell's photographer's shop, adjoining Parrott's, wag slightly damaged. DANGEROUS KEROSENE STOVE. Dunediu, Mon'day. A fire at Maryhill, Moraington, completely gutted a ten-roomed house owned and occupied by J. G. Sawell. The fire was caused by a kerosene stove flaring up and setting fire to the wallpaper. The insurances were: House £BOO, and furniture £4OO, both in the Standard Office. OUTBREAK IN WELLINGTON. Wellington, Monday. At three o'clock yesterday morning a fire broke out in a shop and workroom in Manners street owned by Martin Kennedy and occupied by Alfred Pinkney, upholsterer, as a shop and workroom, lie first floor and contents were badly damaged. The contents were insured in the Guardian Office for £IOO. Three adjoining places also suffered from fire and water. FIRE AT PAIAIERSTON. Palmerston N., Monday. A seven-roomed house owned by T. R. Moore, and occupied by Mrs. Kuhtie, was, together with the contents, destroyed by fire this morning.

GISBORNE RESIDENCE DESTROYED.

Gisborne Monday. A six-roomed house owned by Mr. Grattan oil Whataupoko toad was destroyed by fire this morning. The place had just been cleaned up for a new tenant, Mrs. Long, who was occupying the two front rooms. The fire broke out while breakfast was being prepared in the kitchen. The building was insured for £4OO in the New Zealand Office.
