They say that Maggie Paul's lameness is a trifling affair. Esmeh ran like a waster and cost punters money each day. The form Lady Patricia showed is nothing compared to what the Auckland "guns" say she will do at New Plymouth.
Rector Girl is troubled with "the slows." No relation to that piece of "hot stuff," the Girl from Rector's, anyhow!
Winning Post belied his name and was at the wrong end of the field in the finish for the Flying.
The office humorist wants to know made John "jack-it" in the Cup. Help. Praefectus is a good honest horse, and Walter Raynor has him very fit at present.
Labor Day is a well-bred un, but his chance, like that of many others, went up with the barrier in the Hack Scurry. Handicapper Morse and Starter O'Connor did their work well, and came in for well-deserved congratulations. Good starts and close finishes leave little to be desired. !
St. Limp (St. Paul—Faulfcerci) sounds queer, but Luap is only Paul spelled backwards. Wonderful idea!
It's a poor jockey who couldn't get a mount when' twenty-five . scramblers lined up for a hack race at Hawera.
Montiform is every inch a thoroughbred, and on Thursday's form, it looks as is he were unlucky to dwell on the mark the first day. Talking of lucky numbers. No, 4 saddlecloth was carried by five winners; No. 2 on four; and No. 1 on three. The actual top-weight paid either first or second dividend in no less than nine races. Descendants of St. Paul 'and St. Clements won three races eaeh. Other wirning sires represented were: Cordon Rouge, Gipsy King, Multiform, Soult, Advance, San Fran, Daystar, St. Crespin, Coronet and Obligado. St. Paul's progeny won stakes to the value of £555.
