PLAGUE IN THE EAST
DEATHS BY THE THOUSAND. PLAGUE-FIGHTERS STRICKEN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 7, 9.15 p.m. Pekin, February 7. A thousand deaths from plague are reported at Tsitsihar. Ten members of the Russian medical corps were stricken at Harbin yesterday. Japanese officials are leaving for China to investigate. The Chinese Government has granted a million yen for the purpose of righting the epidemic. Professor Bocquc, of the Pasteur Institute, is going to the infected area.
