FIRES.

A VICARAGE DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Ashburton, Tuesday. The Anglican vicarage at Hinds, 10 miles from here, was, with its contents, totally destroyed by fire this morning. FIRE AT A SAWMILL. ON THE MOKAU RIVER. Early oil Friday morning a fire at Mr. W. E. Dive's sawmill on the Mokau river destroyed 100,000 feet of sawn white pine which was waiting for export to Sydney. The insurance was £330 in the Phoenix. The loss is about £'23o above the insurance. It is supposed the fire was caused by a spark from the engine. There was a gale blowing at the time. The null and stacked rimu were saved. Tlif> owner of the mill is a brother of Mr. 1!. Dive, M.P.
