WRECK OF THE WARATAH

THE QUESTION OF STABILITY. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright London, January 30. At the Waratah enquiry, Mr, Lund, jun., was recalled by counsel and pressed to say why he accepted the designer's opinion of the stability of the Waratah in preference to Captain Ilbcry's, when urging a demurrage claim.

Witness was unable to say or remember what Captain Ilbery said about the rejection of his opinion. Mr. William Lund gave evidence that he had not hoard of the Waratah being wanting in stability. Captain Ilbery watched the building of the ship, and he was unable to account for his absence from important heeling experiments.

Mr. Steel, naval architect, gave evidence that he was satisfied with the stability of the ship. He believed her loss was'due to accident. It was inconceivable that the ship should have capsized unless the water got in.
