NEW LAWS OPERATION
A USEFUL SUGGESTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Dr. Findlay, Minister of Justice, stated to-day that a good (leal of pres*ure was being brought to bear on him to submit proposals to Government that in future all statutes except those of which the operation was urgently needed at once should not come into force earlier than March 1. The reason was that the legal profession and the public should have a fair opportunity to study the new laws before they took effect. The Minister expressed sympathy with this request. He was carefully considering the matter with a view to bringing it before the Government. No action could, however, be taken in regard to the statutes of last session.
