BIOGRAPH PICTURES. Worthy of a bumper house. This was the verdict of the audience who wort privileged to witness the picture programme submitted by the Biograph Co. at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night, when the building was fairly well filled, but not nearly so well as the performance deserved . There was not a dull moment in the two hours' programme, and picture succeeded picture without any delay, Mr. G. IT. Saunders being an adept in manipulating the machine. The films were of a varied nature, and whether dramatic, scenic, educational, or comic, were the best that cinematographic art and science have produced, and need to be seen to be fully appreciated. The dramatic scenes are enacted most naturally and appeal very forcibly •to one. The story of "Mazeppa," as decribed in Saturday's issue, was realistically portrayed. Another fine dramatiw scene was . "Red Eagle's Love Affair." This depicted a young Indian who, fall-.' ing in love with a white ranch girl, left his home' and went to college so as to become worthy of her. She, however, rejected him, and he returned to his people, "and lived happy ever after." The dramatic talent displayed by the various artists in the frying situations in a French passion picture was superb. The new "Boss of the Ranch" is another fine picture. The scenic pictures, too, were remarkably clear, and portrayed as vividly as though one was actually on the spot. "Among the Glaciers'' f.'ave a capital idea of the difficulty and dangers of alpine climbing, such as the perusal of even a hundred books could not do. The same applied to the "Italian Lakes." Other very interesting pictures showed were: "Paris Fashions." "Removing a '2OOO ton Steeple." Visit of Emperor Willhro Tl to 1 Favorer.'' Trotting R;iccs." "Durham Miner-,' Demonstration," "A Railway Collision,'' "Battle of Flowers in Jersey," "E. T. Willows' Flight from Bristol to London," etc. The comic element is well catered for. The programme wiH ' be repeated to-night. '
