DEATH FROM SCALDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ("Jisborne, January 27. A Maori woman at Tologa Hay named Moure Pikepike, who was badly scalded eight days ago by a tin of boiling water upsetting, died yesterday. A BOY DROWNED. Wanganni, Last Night. In the Wangamu river this afternoon, Jack O'Neil, a schoolboy, aged fifteen, lost his life. He could swim a few strokes, but the river bank runs down abruptly, and he was soon out of his depth. ' His mates went in to effect a rescue, but were afraid of being dragged down, and therefore sought the aid of some Maoris. The body was recovered. CAST UP BY THE SEA. Gisborne, Last Night. The body of a middle-aged man was washed up on the beach to-day in an advanced state of decomposition. The features were quite unrecognisable, but it is believed to be the body of Robert Hastie, who has been missing, since December 28.
