ASSISTANCE FROM ELSEWHERE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The donation of £3O b,v the Wellington Wharf Laborers' Union towards the support of the wives and families of the Paten, waterside workers now on strike lias been supplemented by n sum of £Ai given by the Lyttclton Wharf Laborers' Union. According to an officer of the local union, there is some feeling in regard to the discharging and loading of cargo at Patea by crews and officers of shipping companies affected, who are members of other unions. There is a proposal to hold a conference between these unions, with a view to some definite stand being taken. A conference held in Wellington between the representatives of the shipping companies concerned in the strike and the waterside workers prbved abortive.
