It had been intended to keep the marriage secret until Miss Dare's engagements wore concluded, when she leaves the stage. BRITISH CONSOLS. Received 27, 10 p.m. London. January 27. A hundred and sixty-four thousand savings bank depositors hold twentythree millions' worth of consols. At many bank meetings in London the feature of the discussion was the depreciation of consols. Speakers favored popularising this security. Lord Aldwyn. presiding at the Joint Stock Bank mcetins, favored the adoption of a system of £5 bonds, issuable through post offices. TURKISH TROOPSHIPS. Received 27. 10 p.m. Berlin. January 27. The North-Cerman-Lloyds' steamers Oldenburg and Darmstadt have been sold to Turkey for troopships.
