IS MOUNT EGMONT ADVERTISED?
To the Editor. Sir,—l am spending a few days up the Wanganui river, and have come across a British tourist who has never heard of Mount Egmont or the New Plymouth "rec." He has unlimited time, and on hearing of Mount Egmont and New Plymouth is quite pleased to include them in his tour. He says that "Cook's people" have not mentioned il to him. What is the best way of introducing Taranaki to Wanganui river and other tourists? The present round evidently is Auckland, Rotorua, Taumarunui, Pipiriki, Wanganui and Wellington. Could not something be done to advertise Mount Egmont at this point of the journey (Pipiriki)? Though living in Eltham, I am still interested in New Plymouth, and I took upon myself to ask the manager of Hatrick's Hotel here if he would exhibit photographs of Mt. Egmont and Pukekura Park if they were sent to him; he replied that he would be pleased to do so. I should suggest that "somebody responsible" send large and handsomely framed photographs to hang in the hall—it would pay New Plymouth a hundred times over—l am, etc, W.G.
