LONDON DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT.
.Messrs E. Oriflitlis and Co., Xew Plymouth, are in receipt of tlie following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated December i: —• Trade lias been on tile quiet side this week, and the weather has not helped things at all. It started with a fog, and lias finished up wet. the rainfall being nlmost inc< s.-ant diirinir the last few days. I Danish: The quotation remains unchanged, although many people expected a reduction of two kroner to take place. | Business has been very slow all over ill] t- North of England, and arrivals have not cleared. Siberian: Conditions remain about the same. Small arrivals are coming t<? band, but interest in this description is waning fast. French: Some qualities have again advanced and the supply is now very small. Little interest is therefore being taken in this kind. Australian: With the small arrival this ■week, consisting of about 13.000 boxes, per s.s. Ormuz, the trade would naturally only be quiet, but many buyers and speculators are taking advantage of this to run the market down in the hopes of (letting in cheaply on the large arrivals which are due for next week, but they may lie disappointed. No doubt the extreme prices that have been made this week will not be obtainable next, but we shall be very much surprised if there is not a very big demand, because the majority of buyers seem to us to be fairly bare of finest qualities, and as soon as the butters land we think they will be fairly bare of finest qualities, and as soon as the butters land we think they will be ready to take them.
New Zealand: There is now very little on ihand. an J the s.s. Tongariro will then fore meet a fairly bare market. As has already been pointed out, things have been c|\iiet this week, and some sellers of Xew Zealand, getting a little frightened,, have been anxious to dispose of their butter before the boat Ims arrived. This lias had the effect- of weakening the market considerably, and it will now need some very linn holding in order to maintain prices. The Tongariro is expected to dock to-day, and her butters should be ready for delivery early next week. Cheese. —Xew Zealand: These have been eleared up very well indeed, and if the quality of the Tonga Tiro's shipment ' only opens as well as the previous arrival they should sell fairly quickly. It is most satisfactory to find Xew Zealand cheese starting off so wejl.
