A message from Gore record* the death of Police-Sergeant Mackenzie, aged (iO. Tie 'leaves a widow, three sons and three daughters. He had been in the force for 35 years. Prior to arriving in New Zealand he had been a member of the Inverness Constabulary. Mr. Anthony Wilding, of lawn tennis fame, is at present staying at Kormend, in Hungary, with Prince BatthanyStrattmann. He motor-cycled from London, and went all through .Hungary and ■Servia. After he leaves Koraueiut the New Zealander intends going to South Hungary for some shooting, and later he will go to Italy and then to the Riviera to play lawn tennis. A London cable announces the death of Lord Swaythling, banker. He was the first holder of the barony, which was created in 181)4. He was the son of the late Louis Samuel, of Liverpool, but assumed the name of Louis Samuel Montagu by Royal license. In 1833 he established the banking lirm of Samuel .Montagu and Co., of which lie remained the head. He was a' member of the House of Commons from 1885-1000, representing the Whiteehapel division of Tower Hamlets.
