GORED TO DEATH
FATE OF A FRANKLEY ROAD SETTLER.
Mr. George Todd, a well-known Frankley road settler, was gored by a bull on Tuesday evening, and died at an efirlv hour last night from the oll'ect ot the injuries lie sustained. It appears that Mr. Todd was putting the cows out after milking, just before dark, when the bull, a Jersey, turned upon him. He set his dog on the animal and made for the fence. The bull followed him and overtook him apparently just as he stooped to get through the barbed wire. Attacking him with great fury, the bull caught Mr. Todd in the thigh and groin with his horns and pushed him through the fence, which was fortunately strong enough to prevent the animal from renewing the attack. Mr. Todd's son ran to his father's assistance, and with Messrs. George Tippins, Harry Crozier, and Arthur Lander, carried him to the house, where first aid was given, pending the arrival of Dr. Fookes, who was • immediately sent for and was in attendance very promptly. After the wounds had been bandaged the injured man was brought in to Miss Baker's private hospital. He was badly gored in the groin and thigh, in addition to which he was much cut about by the barbed wire. As before stated, he succumbed to his injuries last night. The same bull, it appears, turned upon Mr. Todd's son some days ago, but his attention was diverted by the dog being set upon him.!
