ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A LABORER SUICIDES. By Telegraph. —Press Association. ' Dunedin, Wednesday. A laboring man named Weir, about 24 years of age, an ex-employee of the State nursery at Tapanui, shot himseli at Kelso last evening. Deceased was despondent owing to want of employment. AN UN INDENTIFIED VICTIM. • Christchurch, Wednesday. Ryan, who sustained injuries to his head by falling down the Companionway on the steamer Woottoon on Monday, died in the hospital this morning. He did not regain consciousness, ana beyond the fact that his name is Ryan, there is no information as to his identity.
RAILWAY PORTER KILLED. Dunedin, Wednesday. Simon Fibbs, a railway porter, was killed while shunting a truck at the Mosgiel railway station. His foot caught; in the points, and several trucks passed over his body. He was a single man, aged thirty. His parents are resident at Timaru.
SUDDEN DEATH. Wellington, Wednesday. Sarah Everett, whose husband is employed on the Aorangi in the 'Frisco trade, was taken ill last night at her residence, in Nairn street, and died in a neighboring surgery to which she was taken.
' DEATH FROM CONSUMPTION. Wellington, Last Night. At the inquest on Mrs. Everett, who died suddenly last evening, a verdict was returned of death from hemorrhage of the lungs, consequent on consumption.
INQUEST OX AN INFANT.
Wellington, Last Night. At the inquest on the hotly of an infant found in a servants' bedroom at Newtown, it was found that the child was stillborn. FOUND WITH THROAT CUT. Wellington, Last Night. A boarder in the Cofi'ee Palace in Willis street was found in his room this afternoon with his throat cut. He is Sydney John Whitelaw, 30 years old, and single, and a recent arrival from England. lie is now in the hospital, and is expected to recover.
