A TOWN CLERK'S BILLET. By Telegraph— Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The City Council has received fortyeight applications for the position of town clerk at a salary of £OOO per annum. Nine of the applicants reside in Dunedin, three in Christcllurch, three in Wellington, seven in Auckland, two in New Plymouth, and one each in Timaru, Ashburton, Masterton, Blenheim, Dannevirke, Lyttclton, Woolston, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Ngaruawahia, Tekawhata (Auckland), Warrnainbool (Victoria), Warrigal (Victoria), and Stawell (Victoria). The finance committee has been instructed to select eight names for submission to the next meeting of the council.
