A TWO-UP SCHOOL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Tuesday. Five members of a "two-up" school were convicted at the Magistrate's Court this morning. Four were fined £5 each, and the fifth, James M'Millan, was sent to gaol for three months.

THE WHALE CASE. Blenheim, Tuesday. The judgment of the Chief Justice was delivered to-day in the appeal against the magistrate's decision in the recent whale case. It will be remembered that the Te Awaite whalers caught and killed a whale in Queen Charlotte Sound, which disappeared after they had towed it to a place of safety. Some days afterwards the whale was found by another party, who took possession. The magistrate gave judgment for the Te Awaite party, and Sir Robert Stout upheld the decision, saying his opinion was that a whale left in a position of apparent safety remained the property of the person who killed it, just as if it had been a boat left in that position. Judgment went with costs against the appellant. -

RAIDING RUA'S PA. Auckland, Tuesday. The Star's Kutarere correspondent telegraphs that six constables raided Una's pa at Waimana at four this morning. It is alleged that a sly grog shop lias been Tunning in the pa for two months.
