COMMONWEALTH IMMIGRATION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, January 10. The Federal Government has received a suggestion from the New South Wales Government that the Commonwealth should control State immipration. Mr. Fisher does not think the Idea practicable, as great difficulty would arise in allotting the proportion to the different States.
TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING. Brisbane, January 10. Heavy rains have fallen in central and northern Queensland. At Cloncurry twenty inehes have been recorded since Friday, and the town is flooded, with five feet of water in the hotel bar. Several bridges have been washed away, and further serious damage is expected. IRON MOULDERS' STRIKE . Brisbane, January 10. Matters in connection with the iron moulders' strike, which has been in existence for twenty-two weeks, are at a standstill. The men refused to resmue work on the understanding that a conference would be granted, and demand a conference first.
AVIATION IN* AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, January 10. The Minister of Defence intends to establish an Australian aviation corps. The investigation of several inventions is proceeding.
FEDERAL TERRITORY VOTERS. Melbourne, January 10. Proclamations have been issued disfranchising residents of the Federal capital and Northern Territory. The Government will consider steps ensuring their representation.
A WHEAT YIELD. Melbourne, January 10. A remarkable wheat yield is reported from landra, where share farming is carried out. Dart's Imperial yielded up to 42 bushels' to the acre.
