ATHLETICS.
AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. The council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met this evening. A communication was received from the Australasian Union in regard to Australasia's representation at the Empire Sports Festival. It was pointed out that a team, if scut, would need to get Home at least five weeks prior to the commencement of the tournament, and it would therefore be necessary for a team to leave by at least March 8. The chairman and Messrs. Chafl'ey and Pollock were appointed a sub-committee to approach the boxing, tennis, and swimming bodies in regard to the matter.
Otago Centre wrote applying for control of Australasian championships. It was decided that Otago Centre be informed that its application will receive consideration when file matter of championships coTiies up for consideration.
Certificates in connection with the 1000 yards record of 2min 20 2-ssee put up by \Y. G. Harding in Auckland on December 3 were put in and the record was passed.
