Mr. Chappell was thanked for his services. Inter alia, the report referred to the action of a member of the team, Mr. Xiroll, in refusing to play in the Palmerston match after being spoken t{> by the captain, Mr. Perhani, for turning up late to the match. This matter and counter-charges that were made by Mr. Xicoll against the manager occupied a good deal of the time of the meeting, and feeling is said to have run high. However, after the clouds had rolled away, the position, it is understood, was that Mr. Chappell was exonerated completely, and it was decided, in the interests of cricket generally, to allow the matter of Mr. Nicoll's action to lapse.
