LINERS IN COLLISION

CURIOUS ACCIDENT IN NEW YORK HARBOR.

New York, November 17.

Thousands of people who were assembled on tile piers to wave a farewell to friends departing for Europe witnessed a collision in the Hudson between two great liners—the French Lorraine and the German I'rinz Friederich "Wilhehn.

Both vessels were timed to start, on opposite sides of the river, at the same hour. The passengers on liie decks were fluttering their handkerchiefs when the Lorraine's bow swept dangerously near the German liner, which was moving stern first out of the dock.
