FISHER AND FOWLDS' FAREWELL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 9, 10.45 p.m. Capetown, December 9. Messrs. Fisher and Fowlds gave a farewell dinner to Lord and Lady Gladstone and Lord De Villiers. There was a representative gathering. Lord Gladstone said he had been only too glad to show the visitors all the attention they deserved as distinguished representatives of their Dominions. 'Mr. Fisher, in proposing the prosperity of the Union of South Africa, referred to the triumph achieved by creating the Union. The interest of Australia and New Zealand was now 'being linked with South Africa. He returned thanks for the boundless kindness shown them in South Africa. General Hertzog, representing Mr. Botha, declared that no toast was more welcome than that of "the visitors." He dwelt on the need for unification of the two races, and paid a tribute to the magnaminity displayed.
