At the tallow sales, mutton, fine, sold at 39s od, medium 375; beef, fine, 38s Gd, medium 365. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report for the week ending December 8: Poultry.—On Saturday we had a very large entry. There is a good demand for table birds and prices still continue firm. We quote: Hens, Is 9d to 2s sd; cockerels, small, Is 2d to Is 8d; chickens, 3d to lid; duciks, IS lOd to 2s 3d; ducklings, 2s 6d to 2s 7d, small 8d to Is 3d; geese, 2s !)d to 3s fid; goslings, 2s 2d; turkey liens, 6s. On Saturday afternoon we held a sale of jewellery, etc., on account of the Goldsmith Alliance Co., Auckland. We disposed of a large catalogue at satisfactory prices. Fruit.—Supplies of new season's fruits are now coming to hand. We quote: American oranges,. 235; apples, 16s j tomatoes, 8y 2 d to 9y 2 d; cherries, 9d to 9y 2 d; gooseberries, 3s 6d to 4s 6d; red currants, to 5s 3d; cucumbers, 3s 9d to 5s 9d doz.; peas, 7d to 9d peck; pineapples, !)s !)d to 10s case; strawberries, 9d to lid.

Poultry.—On Saturday we had a large entry of poultry. The quality, however, was not up to the standard of that penned during the last few weeks. Prices realised as follows:—Cockerels, Is lOd to 2s 2d, poor do. Is 6d to l!s 8d; hens, laying Is lid to 2s 4d, fat 2s 4d to 2s 6d, poor Is 6d to Is 9d; goslings, good 4s, poor 2s Gd .to Is 9d; turkey hens, 3s 5d to 4s 6d, gobblers 9s fid; ducks, 2s to 2s sd; ducklings, small lOd to Is 4d, good 2s 3d! to 2s 8d; hen and chicks 4s Gd to 5s Gd; hen and ducklings, 4s to 6s; chicks, small, 5d to 9d. Sundries, clothing and boots sold well. Furniture.—On Wednesday we sold Mr. T. C. Schnackenberg's effects, when, despite the wretchedly wet weather, there was a good attendance, and good prices were obtained).
Fruit.—This is meeting with good enquiry. Prices are high and present indications point to very heavy prices for Christmas and New Year fruits. The first shipment of American oranges arrived in good condition, meeting with ready competition. Prices: Oranges, 21s to 225; apples, 13s to 14s 6d; bananas, choice Tongans 14s 6d, good lis 6d to 12s, ripe 3%di; cocoanuts, 14s; green peas, 6d to M; tomatoes, 9y 2 d to lid; cherries, lid to Is o%d; cucumbers, 3s to 4s box; red currants, 4s to ss; lemons, 7s to 7s fid; marrows, 3s 9d to 4s 6d; gooseberries, 3a to ss; kuaieras, 9s to 9s 6d; cherries, poor, 4d to 6d; new potatoes, 14s; pineapples, 8s to 8s 6d. Oakura yards.—On Friday last at the yards we had a large entry of all classes. Bidding throughout was not brisk, but fair business was done eventually at the following prices:—Fat cows, £4 18s 0d to £5, stores £3 7s 6d, heifers £2 15s to £4, empty cows £3 4s, steers £4 ss, bullocks £3.
