ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hawera, Thursday. A young man named Leonard Russell, a stranger to the district, attempted suicide by cutting his throat. His wounds are not serious. He was apparently under the delusion that the police were searching for him. A FATAL MISTAKE. Hokitika, Thursday. This morning John Gray, night wardsman at Westland Hospital, by some means took a drink out of the wrong bottle, which contained a drug, with fatal results, death ensuing twenty minutes later. Deceased was a single man, aged about 46 years.
