HEALTH OF SCHOOL CHILDREN
AN ALARMING REPORT. By Cable. —'Press Association.—Copyright. Received 8, 9.5 p.m. Sydney, December 8. The report of the Medical Inspection branch of tlhe Education Department shows that out of 2519 scholars examined 17 per cent, were suffering from defective vision, 10 per cent, from defective hearing, 27 per cent, from nose and .throat diseases, a considerable percentage of deformities, and from mal-nutri-tion and! over-nutrition, 13 per cent, of girls, and no boys. They recommend the appointment of assistant medical officers to examine scholars.
