GIRL IMMIGRANTS' TREATMENT

The British Women's Immigration Association, at a special meeting, the Hon. Ill's. Joyce presiding, dealt with tlie methods of despatching girl immigrants to Australia, and their treatment on arrival No proper emigrants' homes were provided in New South Wales, West Australia, or Queensland, and the arrangements aboard many of the vessels were not good. The girls landed: friendless and unprotected. The meeting resolved to bring definite cases before the Agents-General. Victoria was not mentioned, while New Zealand's excellent arrangements were commendted.
