A POLICEMAN PROSECUTED
ALLEGATION OF PERJURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. Constable White, of Otira, was com.mitted for trial this morning, after « lengthy hearing, m a charge of perjury alleged to have been committed in the Grey Magistrate's Court on November 22 when giving evidence against Dennis Moynihan, of the Otira Accommodation House, for an alleged breach of the Licensing Act, which was dismissed. Mr. Hannan prosecuted on a private information.
Mr. Beare, for the defendant, stated that next week's session of the Supreme Court would be too early for the accused to collect evidence to contradict the depositions taken, and he would appeal to the Judge to adjourn, the case till a later session. Bail was granted, the accused iji £SO and two sureties of £25 each.
