A WARNING TO PARENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Yesterday. Myrtle- Jane Johnson, aged 18 months, daughter of a Borough Council employee, died as the. result of drinking, carbolic acid oil, which had' been left on the table in a saucer to keep the flies away. PERILS OF BATHING ALONE. Palmers-ton North, Yesterday. David Shannon, about 22 years of age, fly-boy at A flax mill at Rangitane, was drowned while "bathing in the Manawatu river yesterday. Palmerston North, Last Night. At the inquest to-day on Charles Shannon, a flaxmill employee, lat? of Du.nedin, drowned in the Manawatu river on Sunday, a verdict was returned that the deceased was accidentally drowned whjle bathing alone. A FATAL SEIDLITZ POWDER. • Auckland, Yesterday. Archie Myers, agedi 32, a married man living at Devonport, died this morning after taking a seidlitz powder. After swallowing the powder Myers said it was 'bitter. Symptoms of strychnine poisoning ensued, and a doctor attended him. Myers diedi two hours later. LITTLE GIRL KILLED. / Ashhurton, Last Night. This afternoon the seven-year-old da/ughter of Arthur Stewart, of Hinds, was accidentally ran over by an iron roller on which she had been riding, and was killed instantaneously. An inquest will be held.
