WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Mr. J. Connett (chairman), Messrs. French, Surrey and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from Mr. J. B. Roy, stating that some additional consents were expected by the Public Works Department before' they would pass the Kelly road deviation. From the same, stating there was no obligation for the Board to fence in Belt road; from Moa Road Board, enquiring if there was any money available for maintenance of Davis road; from Mr. C. Monro, agreeing to relieve the Board of all responsibility in connection with gravel pits on his property for the sum of £1 Bs. The chairman reported that Mr. French and himself had been unable to come to any agreement with Mr. Free re account stated to be owing. The chairman was requested to interview Mr. Free again. The clerk was directed to write to Mr. R. Tate and enquire if he would be able to do any grading, also to ask the Moa Road Board to forward estimate of yearly cost of maintenance ol Davis road. Mr. Turnbull reported that some extra metal was required for repairs to Cross road, and it was decided to grant the same, the Te Arai road to be charged one-third cost of this year's repairs.
Tenders were received for metal on district roads from Messrs. Hasluek and Co., and 17. Cartwright, the latter's tender at 4s fid per yard being accepted for 300 yards for Kelly road, and Messrs Haskell's for Corbett road at 4s (id and ss, Manutahi west 4s Cd and ss, Richmond (carting only) 2s fid, Tate ss, and Te Arai 4s, Waitara Cs, Wortley 3s 6d, and Brown Cs.
Accounts amounting to £3B were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
