STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. On Saturday a little girl named Perritt, three years of age, was knocked down and jumped on by a cow on her parents' farm at Midhirst. There were no extensive wounds, and it was not thought at the time that the child was seriously hurt. However, this morning the child died. The matter was reported to the police, and an inquest will be held to-morrow. The members of the Borough Council Works Committee made a tour of the streets to-day to inspect needed requirements. They will And any quantity of improvements that are badly needed, and the diffiiculty of their task will be to determine which is required most. The Hospital Board's discussions are causing a "nine days' sensation." As usual, there are sides, one criticising the Board for its action in inviting outside applications, the other defending the Board. The Board on Saturday passed a resolution stating that it was not intended that the resolution passed at the previous meeting should be regarded as a slight to either Dr. Carbery or Dr. Menzies. It was unfortunate that the resolution referred to was ever published, as it has caused* a certain amount of friction. The former chairman, Mr. Marchant, has, by resigning, succeeded m partially drawing the attention of the remainder of the members on to himself, and the public is wondering what cause he had, unless it was because •he could not get his own way, for resigning. On account of there being no business, the ordinary meeting of the Stratford Licensing Committee, to have taken place on Friday, will not be held.
