The attendance was moderate throughout the match. Schwarz and Llewellyn were both brilliant, the partnership' adding 137 in 03 minutes. They treated, the bowling with the greatest freedom. The. Queenslanders made a muck better show in the second essay. Hartigan and Jenkins, for the first wicket, carried the total to 137, the largest partnership score yet made against the South Africans. Both played free and faultless cricket. Marshall's was a fine innings. Altogether, the local batsmen displayed much more confidence and greater freedom with the visitors' googlies than in the first innings. The first four wickets put on 227, the second century appearing in 137 minutes, and the total was the biggest in a single innings yet produced against the visitors in their Australian tour. Victoria in the first innings made 614 runs. Armstrong 76, Matthews 42, Hazlitt 77, Kenny 73, and Laver (not out) 17, were the chief scorers. South Australia has lost four wickets for 138— Maynes 7, Clem Hill 35, Genre 52, Crawford (not out) 13. The Victorian innings lasted for eight and a 'half hours. They completely collared the bowling, and gave a display of consistent and brilliant batting. Hazlitt and Kenny, at the ninth wicket, added 143.
