ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
BABY SCALDED TO DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Guy Compton, aged three, son ox Thomas Compton, of Rhodes street, fell into a bath of boiling water at his parents' residence last night, and was badly scalded. He died in the hospitaj this morning. His mother was preparing a bath, and during her absence the child pushed open' the bathroom door and toppled into the water. DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. Wellington, Monday. Miss Louisa Adams, a patient in the hospital since October 18 last, died in the institution to-day while under an anaesthetic for an operation. A YOUNG EIDER'S PATE.
Ashburton, Monday. Herbert Holmes, aged 14, was picked up thus morning unconscious. He had been sent to bring a horse from a paddock some distance away, and it is supposed attempted to ride the animal back and was thrown. He sustained a compound fracture of the skull, and is in a critical condition.
