AUSTRALIAN LAND TAX
MAY RESTRICT ENTERPRISE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. London, November 27. It seems certain that the land tax will restrict new enterprise, but its effect on capital already invested remains to be seen. The Economist quotes the speech of Mr. David Murray, chairman of th'e New Zealand and Australian Land Company; it looks as if class legislation and discrimination in taxation will almost certainly result in the withdrawal of a considerable proportion of capital.
