The cricket reports were .delayed by a block on the telegraph lines. The weather was sultry and the wicket perfect. The visitors won the toss and opened! poorly. The first two wickets were down for 13, and the fifth fell ax 94. Nourse, by good cricket, rattled up 38 in fifty-three minutes. Faulkner played a lively and chanceless innings, his score taking sixty-one minutes. He hit seven 4's. Llewellyn made his runs quickly. For the ;home team Marshall, in a fine punitive innings, hit two 6's>. Jennings played sound cricket. SATURDAY'S PLAY. Received 27, 5.5 p.nt Brisbane, November 27.
The weather was fine, but the wicket was soft from rain during the night, favoring the bowlers in the early stages of the game. The balance of the Queenslanders quickly succumbed, being unable to negotiate Faulkner's and Schwarz's deadly bowling. The former captured four wickets for nine runs in 25 balls.
The South Africans opened badly, the first four wickets falling for 42. Zulch, who went in fifth man, was joined by Faulkner, and stopped the debacle. They raised the total to 115, when Zuleh had the misfortune to be run out just before reaching his century, in a fine, slashing innings. Faulkner played a sound innings, marred by one chance. Received 27, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, November 27. Victoria has lost six wickets for 423; Kortlang 84, Armstrong not out 73, Matthews not out 33. Scott and Kortland were both steady, and played sound cricket. Armstrong's batting was lively and interesting.
