"Tartar" Julian has been engaged to ride Sedition in the Auckland Cup. Equitas was brought up from Riccarton on Tuesday, and will be ridden by A. Olliver in the Flying at Feilding. Up North they say that King Soult is a better horse than Danube. Not on performances surely? , Masterpiece will probably be spelled, and his Feilding Stakes acceptance is merely a gift to the club.

A bystander pluckily mounted Farley Grove and covered the distance, securing second .money, but third prize (£10) went begging. Taranaki nominations, particularly in the hack events, show a decided advance on last year's figures, and class is well represented. Weights are not due until Friday week.
