GREATER NEW PLYMOUTH.
A FEW PERTINENT POINTS. Speaking at the Borough Council meeting last night with reference to the inclusion of Fitzroy, Cr. Wilson enquired as to the liabilities of the 'Fitzroy Town Board. There were, he knew, the liabilities connected with the Waiwakaiho bridge and the weir, and the Board might be under others that it was necessary the Council should know. Another point was that if Fitzroy was included, whether the whole of the Board's district should be taken in. He referred to this matter because there were farm lands which would not be of use for many years. Then there was an awkward piece of the old Hospital road, where, before long, the Council would be asked to decrease the grade. The thiTd point was that the area of the borough was not to be more than nine square miles. Vogeltown would come in, and then there was the district towards the Breakwater which had to be considered. Cr. Wilson said he wished to draw attention to this matter, as it was possible some important part might be cut out.
His Worship said these matters would come before the Commission.
Mr. Wilson: If the "opposition" is squashed out, we will have no commission.
In ireply to Cr. Browne, His Worship said he was of opinion that there was plenty of room in nine square miles to include all the districts,
On the motion of Crs. Bellringer and Dockrill, a committee, consisting of Crs. Wilson, Watkins and His Worship, was appointed to enquire into the matter, with power to act.
